National Oilwell Varco (NOV) has acquired Ambar Lone Star Fluids Services LLP, a U.S.-based drilling and completions fluids company. Ambar will become part of the Well Site Services Division of NOV.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Patterson UTI with locations along the Gulf of Mexico and the Mid Continent Region, Ambar provides proprietary water-, diesel- and synthetic-based drilling fluids, as well as exclusive completions products used during the drilling and completion phase of wellbore construction.

Ron Brazzel, former president of Ambar, will serve as vice president Fluids Services, Southern U.S., and will report to Bill Micho, vice president and general manager of NOV Fluids Services.
