HARDERN-Helle CRC2, a high-chromium hard-facing wire, now is available in 0.045-inch diameter, in both 10-pound and 25-pound spools. With lower current and amperage requirements, it is engineered to be an alloy against severe abrasion. Developed to produce a steady arc with very lowspatter and little slag, it can be applied without shielding gas; use of CO2 is said to enhance out-of-position work. Low penetration minimizes base metal dilution, providing a deposit that is high in wear-resistant chromium carbides. Typical hardness ranges from 58 to 64 Rockwell C. Performance Alloys Corp.
