Satellites Reveal Significant Ground Water Loss in California
New space observations reveal that since Oct. 2003, the aquifers for California's primary agricultural region and its major mountain water source have lost nearly enough water combined to fill Lake Mead, America's largest reservoir. The findings, based on satellite data, reflect California's extended drought and increased pumping of ground water for human uses, such as irrigation.

Troubleshooting Common Water System Problems
Finding and fixing problems with water well systems is like detective work - sometimes the clues are obvious and sometimes not, but knowing what to look for is key, said expert Mark Campbell in a workshop at the 2009 NGWA Expo.

 Industrial Vacuum
Vac-Tron Equipment's LP555DT industrial vacuum is designed to maneuver more easily in tight places, and to offer greater rear-view visibility. The LP555DT features a 36-HP, water-cooled, balanced diesel engine, and also has a Super Diesel (LP555SDT) 49-HP option. This industrial vacuum balances its weight on a two-torsion- axle, heavy-duty trailer. Its pressurized system comes standard, and other standard features include a 500-gallon spoil tank, twin 100-gallon saddle water tanks with automatic low-water cutoff, 0.5 micron filter, 4000-psi water pump with electric clutch for on/off control, and a waterproof and fully lockable control panel. Vac-Tron's LP series has more than 50 wet and
dry uses, among which are cleaning up non-hazardous/non-flammable spills, as well as drilling mud.
