Caterpillar announced a change that demonstrates the companyÕs commitment and focus on the mining industry at MINEXPO 2000. Effective January1, 2001, Richard A. (Dick) Benson will become president of the new Caterpillar Global Mining Division and continue as vice president of Caterpillar, Inc.
The Global Mining Division will bring together CaterpillarÕs Corporate Mining Group, with underground mining product group Caterpillar Elphinstone. The new group will also have product responsibility for large mining truck and shovel offerings. The division will work with the motor grader, large wheel loader, and large track-type product teams to ensure those products serve needs of the mining industry.
