Vermeer Elected Chairman Equipment Manufacurers Institute

Robert l. (Bob) Vermeer, CEO and Chairman of the Board for Vermeer Manufacturing Company, Pella, IA, was elected 2000-2001 chairman for the Equipment Manufacturers Institute (EMI) during its 107th Annual Convention October 14-16 at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort Hotel in St. Petersburg, FL. His one-year term began November 1, 2000.

Vermeer has been an active member of EMI, having served on the Institute's Board of Directors since 1995 during which time he served as ENI's vice chairman, second vice chairman and a member of the executive committee. In November 1999, Vermeer attended the TABD meeting in Berlin as US industry executive representative to the off-road heavy equipment sector.

November 1st also marked the transition date for the change of other EMI officers and directors. Joining Vermeer as newly-elected EMI officers are: Gary MacDonald, executive vice president, MacDon Industries Ltd., Winnipeg, MB, Canada as vice chairman and David Woods, chief operating officer, Charles Machine Works, Inc. Perry , OK, as second vice chairman.

Appointed as vice chairman- Agriculture was Duane Wilder, president of J-Star Industries, Fort Atkinson, WI. Chuck Hoge, president of Bobcat Company, West Fargo, ND, was appointed as vice chairman - Construction.
