A National Drinking Water Advisory Council (NDWAC) subgroup held its first meeting to discuss the cost implications of implementing pending arsenic-in-drinking-water regulation.

The cost of implementing the arsenic rule could be as much as $4.5 billion in initial capital costs to build arsenic-treatment units and $20 million a year to operate the systems industry wide.
