To consolidate and grow its geotechnical and environmental presence in the northwest United States, Boart Longyear has announced its acquisition of Geo-Tech Explorations Inc. Now trading as Geo-Tech Explorations (a division of Boart Longyear Company), Greg McInnis will continue to manage the business.

Geo-Tech Explorations operates out of Portland, Ore., with satellite facilities in Kent, Wash., and Eugene, Ore. The company specializes in sonic, dual-rotary, reverse circulation and direct push drilling technologies for all types of geotechnical projects, ground water investigation, remediation and production wells.

This acquisition will complement Boart Longyear's Environmental Drilling Division, which forms part of the group's newly named Drilling Services - a global supplier of drilling technology and expertise across the mining, water, geotechnical, environmental, construction and quarrying industries.

Within a two year period, Geo-Tech will be fully absorbed into the group and at that time will adopt the Boart Longyear brand name.
