Well owners, or anyone with questions about wells or well water, now can call the Water Systems Council's (WSC) new wellcare hotline at 888-395-1033. The WSC is a national organization solely focused on individiual wells and well-based systems not regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act. The hotline is funded in part by a grant from the Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). For years, the EPA has operated a Safe Drinking Water Hotline to answer questions from public water system users and others. Receiving as many as 300 calls a month related to private wells, it now will refer these calls to the wellcare hotline.
In addition to telephoning the hotline, those with questions can access it online at www.wellarehotline.org or www.watersystemscouncil.org.
