Very dry conditions continue to be reflected in the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's May Water Year 2001 allocation for water supplies from the federal Central Valley Project (CVP) in California. However, slightly improved conditions will allow an allocation increase from 40 percent to 45 percent to agricultural contractors south of the Delta.

All CVP agricultural, municipal and industrial water service contractors are receiving shortages as a result of the lack of precipitation this year. The major season of rainfall has occurred in the area and it is expected that this will be the final forecast and water allocation for the 2001 contract year.
