The sixth-annual Water For People Golf Classic, held at Sanctuary Golf Course, Denver, on Aug. 4 grossed more than $350,000 for the Denver-based international non-government organization.

Surrounded by breathtaking Rocky Mountain scenery, 124 golfers at the sold-out event participated in a scramble golf tournament, as well as putting, chipping, longest-drive and other contests in support of Water For People’s mission to develop lasting and locally sustainable clean water and sanitation solutions in the developing world.

“Water For People is incredibly grateful for the generous support from our sponsors of the CDM and The Coca-Cola Company 2010 Water For People Golf Classic, as their contributions allow us to be innovative in addressing the water and sanitation needs of the communities we work with around the world,” says Katie Scolari Borden, Water For People Director of Resource Development. “Each dollar we receive from this event is leveraged with funding from local communities and governments, magnifying the impact we can have on the ground. Together, we are transforming lives by catalyzing sustainable access to water and sanitation – an essential starting point for alleviating poverty.”

Water For People is an international, nonprofit humanitarian organization that focuses on long-lasting, safe drinking water resources and improved sanitation facilities in the developing world.
