The 62nd annual convention and trade show of the California Groundwater Association (CGA) took place Nov. 4-6 in Sparks, Nev., and everyone associated with the event should be head-up-and-shoulders-back proud. We’re dealing with some pretty tough times these days, but this convention went on like we’re in the throes of some kind of from-the-heavens megaboom. The professionalism and can-do attitude on display was truly heartening, and makes one look ahead with great optimism. Even the most pessimistic soul had to come away feeling like good times are right around the very next corner.

A first-rate slate of educational programming was both prescient and practical, covering an extensive range of timely topics. In addition to the customary seminar- and workshop-format educational opportunities, the “Tools of the Trade” presentations offered attendees a chance to get a more custom-tailored tutoring experience from some of the industry’s most knowledgeable experts.

Eight hours of exhibit hall time gave visitors ample time to check out the latest offerings from industry suppliers. And kudos are to be thrown at PACE Supply, Welenco/WWTI and Pentair Water, the companies that deservedly took the top awards in the hard-fought and much-coveted “Best Booth” competition.

Lively and entertaining were the manufacturers/suppliers welcoming reception, the annual awards banquet (featuring both a silent and live auction that had members generously overpaying for items to benefit the association’s many industry-enhancing endeavors) and the safari-themed grand finale gala.
