The Florida Ground Water Association (FGWA) held its Annual Convention & Trade Show May 5-7 at the Caribe Royale All Suite Hotel in Orlando, Fla. The theme for this year’s event was “Blueprint for Success,” and participants certainly had ample opportunity to incorporate that approach into their experience – whether at the exhibit hall, in the classrooms or at any of the numerous social activities.

Educational sessions covered a wide array of timely topics, including sonic drilling, solar-powered pumping systems, vehicle safety, drilling fluids, water conditioning, well maintenance and rehabilitation, and more. In all, some 12 hours of instructive programming was offered, enabling drilling and water systems professionals to meet their continuing education requirements.

Two three-hour blocks of exhibit hall action gave attendees plenty of time to check out the latest offerings from leading industry suppliers. Nearly 70 vendors were on hand to keep visitors up to date. New this year was the availability of box lunches on the trade show floor – a convenience that meant less hassle and more face-time with fellow convention-goers.

As per usual, there was plenty of time to socialize. Things kicked off with the FGWA Grand Golf Tournament (congratulations to Marshall Pickard, Todd Hodgson, Erika White and Neeld Wilson for their 1st place finish). The poolside party definitely was not to be missed – a lively good time always. And folks kept their fingers crossed at the close of the silent auction; people walked away with all sorts of fun and useful prizes, and the proceeds benefit the association’s scholarship program.

Looking ahead to next year, the FGWA’s 2012 Convention & Trade Show takes place May 4-6 at the same venue. Be there if you can.
