Infinity Tool Mfg., manufacturer of down-the-hole drill bits and other drilling accessories, located in Benton, Ill., is partnering with charities and donating some of its proceeds to the respective causes.

In December 2011, Infinity launched its first-ever charitable campaign by partnering with SupportOurTroops.Org, an organization that ships morale and well-being to active-duty troops and their families worldwide. This successful campaign ended on March 31, with a portion of the proceeds from every drill bit Infinity sold between Dec. 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012, going to SupportOurTroops.Org.

Beginning May 1, 2012, and continuing through Aug. 31, 2012, Infinity has partnered with another charity, Puppies Behind Bars, which trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and explosive detection canines for law enforcement. The puppies live in prison with their puppy-raisers from the age of eight weeks to 20 months. As the puppies mature into well-loved, well-behaved dogs, the goal is for their raisers to learn what it means to contribute to society rather than take from it.

Dog Tags, a Puppies Behind Bars initiative, honors and assists wounded OIF/OEF veterans. By pairing a specially trained Labrador or Golden Retriever service dog, the organization can help veterans cope with the challenges of everyday life. The dogs are trained to perform 90 service-dog commands. Specializing in dogs for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury, the initiative teaches the canines special commands for wounded warriors dealing with these injuries. The dogs can open and close doors, turn lights on and off, dial 911 on a phone, carry shopping bags and do laundry; they also can be taught to find a car in a crowded parking lot, how to look both ways before entering a room, and much more. Because the dogs are not raised in a kennel, but instead around people all the time, they can develop an exceptional bond with humans; as they are raised by prison inmates, the dogs also are able to connect with people who may be socially withdrawn.

Buy drill bits from Infinity Tool Mfg. between May 2012 and August 2012, and a portion of your purchase dollars will go toward supporting Puppies Behind Bars.
