Atlas Copco has launched a new radio remote control top hammer drill rig-the FlexiROC T30 R-equipped with either a COP 1240 or COP 1640 drill for 2- to 3.5-inch holes.

Maurice Hunter, Atlas Copco business line manager, said the rig’s extended boom coverage of 14 feet through an 80-degree radius was designed to deliver more holes from fewer set-ups.

The company says the FlexiROC T30 R features a standard hydraulic carousel-type rod handling system that uses 12-foot rods and four rods for a maximum drilling depth of 57 feet.

The FlexiROC T30 R comes with an IT4-compliant Cummins QSB4.5 turbo charged engine providing improved diesel consumption over its predecessor, the ROC D3 RRC. A low center of gravity and high ground clearance enhance mobility over challenging terrain, which the company says makes the FlexiROC T30 R ideal for construction or small- to medium-sized quarry jobs. It also handles specialized tasks like self-drilling anchors, blastholes in hard rock and dimensional stone quarrying.

The rig's compact size, Hunter says, allows for easy transport from job to job, letting contractors to maximize their investment.

Radio remote control is standard on the FlexiROC T30 R, giving operators full access to drilling, tramming and boom controls at a safe working distance. Automatic RPM reduction, adjustable fan speeds and IT4-compiant emissions also enhance savings and efficiency, Atlas Copco says.
