Rig Source, based in Elburn, Ill., introduced its Terramac RT9 rubber-track multipurpose carrier at MINExpo International 2012.

The Terramac RT9 offers many attachment options, including the ability to mount a variety of machines.

The Terramac RT9 model is equipped with a 230-horsepower Cummins diesel engine. Although the carrier has an 18,000-pound carrying capacity, ground pressure with a full load is only 4.9 psi. The unit’s rollover protective structure (ROPS) and falling object protective structure (FOPS) add to its safety. The rubber track crawler carrier has a 17-foot, 7-inch overall length, a 8-foot, 5-inch width and a 9-foot, 3-inch height with 20-inch minimum ground clearance. The unit drives at 2.5 mph to 6 mph and has a 10-foot turning radius, and it is offered in both open-cab and closed-cab options.

Matt Slater, Rig Source’s director of sales, said easy maintenance and ease of use were priorities in the Terramac RT9’s design. Easily accessible ports, for instance, allow technicians easy access to monitor pressure throughout the hydraulic system.

Support service and replacement parts are available through the Rig Source headquarters near Chicago.

Rig Source, currently the exclusive distributor of the new carrier, has already accepted sales and rental orders for the Terramac RT9 and will soon offer the Terramac RT9 to overseas customers as well. Both international and national distributors and dealers expressed interest in distributing the carrier in Russia, Australia, Netherlands, South America, Canada and more.

Rig Source representatives said the expo allowed various markets to see the major features that differentiate the Terramac RT9 from other crawler carriers.
