The National Ground Water Research and Education Foundation is accepting applications for grants for groundwater supply projects or training programs in developing nations.

The NGWREF Board of Directors has approved $30,000 for grants for qualified projects in low-income, Third World or developing nations, as defined by the World Bank, the United Nations or an equivalent international body. Grants will be offered on a dollar-for-dollar match for winning projects.

Eligible projects include groundwater supply projects that serve the general public, as well as education and training programs for groundwater development, well construction, wellhead protection, pumping systems, or maintenance. Sanitation can be an aspect of these projects, but it cannot be the primary intention for the sake of the grant program. Groundwater supply projects should have a history of three or more years of demonstrated success in providing potable water.

Applications will be accepted from April 1 through June 30. Recipients will be announced on or before Oct. 1. For more information, contact Rachel Jones at rjones@ngwa.org or 800-551-7379.
