Keller Group, international specialists in ground engineering, appointed Paul Withers to its board as senior independent director, effective Dec. 17.

Withers, a chartered engineer, formerly served as group managing director at BPB, an international building materials business, where he combined the roles of managing director, emerging markets and business development director. Withers helped lead BPB’s businesses in Asia and South America, and he was also responsible for group acquisitions and strategy development. Prior to this, Withers held a number of senior roles within BPB.

Withers is a non-executive director of Devro, Premier Farnell and Hyder Consulting.

Gerry Brown, who has served on the Keller Board since 2001 and as senior independent director since 2008, remains on the board as a non-executive director, but will not be offering himself for re-election at the 2013 annual general meeting.

“We are delighted that Paul has joined the board of Keller,” said Roy Franklin, chairman of Keller. “I am confident that his extensive international experience and strong focus on business improvement will complement the mix of skills and strengths on our board. In addition, his experience as a United Kingdom non-executive director will help us to maintain our record of strong governance and investor confidence. On behalf of the whole board, I would like to thank Gerry for his long and greatly-valued contribution to the business.”
