Remedial Construction Services (RECON), a geotechnical construction and civil construction contractor based in Houston, has hired Jerry Mason as its new chief operating officer.

Mason replaces Rick Nieland, who is retiring to spend more time with family and pursue personal hobbies.

“Rick made substantial improvements to our processes and his leadership will be greatly missed but his retirement is well deserved," said President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Birdwell. "We’ve carefully selected his replacement with someone who has similar drive and standard of excellence and are pleased Jerry has chosen to join our team.”

Mason has more than 26 years of experience in the United States and internationally. The company says he has extensive knowledge of construction management, project controls, and business services and development. Prior to joining RECON, he served as vice president of operations at URS, where he oversaw that company's acquisition of Flint Energy Services Ltd.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to join RECON," Mason said. "The company’s core values of safety, integrity, innovation, and of providing value to our clients perfectly match my own. I look forward to contributing to RECON’s growth and continued success.”

Remedial Construction Services provides environmental remediation, geotechnical and civil construction services to a range of municipal and corporate clients. The company's geotechnical specialties include slurry cutoff and diaphragm walls, soil and deep soil mixing, secant walls and jet grouting. RECON also has remediation and civil services divisions.
