The Associated General Contractors of America gave MD Drilling & Blasting its National Award for having zero safety incidents in 2012.

“We have a very strong safety culture throughout all of our divisions,” said John Capasso, MD Drilling & Blasting president. “Our safety manager and team should be congratulated, as well as all the individuals within MD inclusive of both Massachusetts and Connecticut … not only did we achieve a rate 25 percent lower than the industry average in the Specialty Division … we achieved a zero incident rate.”

More than 1,400 AGC of America contractors participated in the program this year. To qualify for the award, a firm must participate in the program for three consecutive years and have either zero lost-day incidents or an average incident case rate 25 percent below the average of all firms in their division. MD was one of 17 Massachusetts firms to be recognized.

AGC, established in 1918, represents nearly 30,000 firms across the construction industry, including general and specialty contractors, service providers and suppliers. For more information, visit www.agc.org.
