Massachusetts-based Desalitech announced appointment of Mike Spinhirne as senior vice president of sales. Spinhirne will oversee all U.S. industrial sales.

“Few people are as seasoned and well-respected in the water industry as Mike, and we’re thrilled to have him on board,” said Nadav Efraty, Desalitech CEO. “He brings the leadership and relationships we need to accelerate our rollout of industry-changing innovations in water and effluent treatment into the power, food and beverage, agriculture and other industrial sectors. Mike’s joining is another vote of confidence from an experienced water expert that recognizes how our products can change the economics of water treatment, providing more reliable, cost-effective solutions to maximize the performance of industrial manufacturing operations.”

Spinhirne most recently led a team integrating Siemens Water Technologies Corp. into the newly formed Siemens Industry Inc., for which he served as vice present of sales. His experience with water treatment and management solutions dates back to 1981, when he worked as a district sales engineer for Betz Laboratories.

“Desalitech is fundamentally changing the environmental sustainability and underlying economics of water and effluent treatment,” said Spinhirne, who has more than three decades of experience in water industry sales. “Desalitech is delivering an innovative high-efficiency solution that creates compelling savings and a clear return on investment for industrial customers.”

Spinhirne says Desalitech can make reserve osmosis cost effective across many industries, even where it previously has not been.

The company says its Closed Circuit Desalination (CCD) lowers costs by 20 to 60 percent, and reduces energy consumption. It says CCD is ideal for “industrial water and effluent treatment, agricultural water supply and inland brackish desalination.” For details, visit www.desalitech.com.
