Ground engineering firm Keller Group PLC announced a contract worth $52.6 million to build foundations and related structures for the new Sengkang hospital in Singapore.

"This is the largest contract award to date for Resource Piling," said CEO Justin Atkinson. "It is a good example of how the businesses we acquire are able, over time, to take on larger and more complex work, knowing they have the technical and financial backing of a strong, international parent."

The contract involves a diaphragm wall, as well as bored and secant pilings. Keller's Resource Piling unit will handle the largest part of the project--installing more than 2,500 piles in a range of diameters.

Keller is expected to begin the project soon. In a release, the company said the goal of the client, the Singapore Ministry of Health, was to "create an integrated general hospital, community hospital and specialist outpatient facilities, catering for more than 700,000 residents in the region.

The target for completion for Keller's foundation works is the third quarter of 2014.

"Increasing our participation in major projects remains one of our key aims," Atkinson said, "and we are delighted to have been selected to work at Sengkang."

Keller offers the construction and civil engineering sectors a variety of ground engineering services. It has more than $2 billion in annual revenue and about 7,000 employees worldwide. For more information about Keller Group, visit www.keller.co.uk.
