The event features almost two dozen technical presentations in five sessions: harmonization of execution standards, bored and driven piles, wet and dry deep mixing, in-situ and preformed walls, and new trends. Leading foundations professionals will deliver keynotes for four of the five sessions. Those keynotes include:

  • Maurice J. M. Bottiau, the deputy general manager of Franki Foundations Belgium. He'll discuss pile production monitoring and testing.
  • Donald Bruce, Ph.D., the president of Geosystems LP. His presentation is titled "Deep Mixing in the United States: Milestones in Evolution."
  • Roger Frank, ISSMGE president, National School for Bridges and Highways, France. Frank will talk about Eurocode 7 and experiences in France implementing and applying the recent standard.
  • Professor Frits van Tol of Deltares and Eric Halpin, PE, USACE, who will present the lecture "New Developments to Improve the Reliability of D-walls." Van Tol and Halpin will discuss in-situ and preformed wall projects in the U.S. and Europe.

The fifth session will combine the 10th edition of the DFI's John Mitchell Lecture and the Special Heritage Lecture. The former, delivered by Dr. Bengt Fellenius, discusses piled foundations as reflected in codes and standards, and the latter, given by  Stefan Aronsson and K. Rainer Massarsch, looks at Swedish contributions to geotechnical engineering.
