National Ground Water Association (NGWA) is honoring James Rumbaugh, president of Environmental Simulations Inc. (ESI), with its 2014 Technology Award.

He will receive the award for his role in the development of groundwater modeling software at this year’s NGWA expo in Las Vegas in December.

Rumbaugh is a hydrogeologist and groundwater modeler who has performed modeling studies in the United States, the Caribbean, Australia, Europe and Japan. He was technical director for modeling services at Geraghty & Miller Modeling Group until late 1994.

A long-time member of NGWA, Rumbaugh has written groundwater modeling software and developed inverse models for calibration of groundwater models, to optimize remedial systems for more cost-effective groundwater treatment.

He has taught many groundwater modeling seminars to private industry and to government clients. He teaches all ESI seminars in the U.S. and is a guest lecturer at ESI seminars in Europe. He also teaches seminars for the Australian Centre for Groundwater Studies.

NGWA is a nonprofit that supports responsible development, management and use of water resources. It’s comprised of groundwater professionals ranging from contractors to equipment manufacturers to scientists and engineers. For more information, visit www.ngwa.org.
