DFI to Present Four Major Awards This Year
The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) is ready to receive entries for the major awards it will bestow in 2015. Submissions are due by April 15.
The Outstanding Project Award recognizes DFI members for excellence in their work. The project will be chosen from several geotechnical jobs submitted for consideration by DFI members.
The Distinguished Service Award goes to those who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of the deep foundations industry.
The C. William Bermingham Innovation Award honors innovative contributions to deep foundations technology. It pays tribute to the innovative nature of DFI past President Bill Bermingham and his contributions to the DFI along with the deep foundations industry as a whole.
The winner of the Ben C. Gerwick Award for Innovation in Design and Construction of Marine Foundations has already been selected. Proserve Ltd. is being recognized for the Proserve Grout bag, a pioneering industry development that provides infill foundations to precast elements in the marine environment. The award, which recognizes excellence in marine engineering, will be accepted by Martin Hawkswood on behalf of Proserve in the U.K. The prize was created in tribute to Ben Gerwick, who made exceptional contributions to the design and construction of marine foundations.
The first three awards will be presented at the institute’s annual conference on deep foundations, slated for Oct. 12-15 in Oakland, Calif. The Ben C. Gerwick Award will be granted at IFCEE 2015 in San Antonio on March 17-21.
