Earth Tech has hired Ed Garbin, Mark Plaskett and Michael Simpson, all seasoned geotechnical engineers, to meet increased demand for customized solutions to soil improvement problems.

“This is the most significant personnel move we’ve made in recent years,” says Ron Broadrick, Earth Tech’s president. “We needed a larger team of geotechnical engineers to address this growth. These newly hired professionals fit our culture, complement our existing team and have already begun to add value for our clients.”

Garbin serves as vice president of engineering and technology, the company’s lead technical authority for specialty geotechnical construction projects in the U.S. and Caribbean. He will chiefly be responsible for providing cost-effective design-build solutions to geotechnical challenges. He will also lead all engineering research and development efforts for the company among other things. Most recently he was chief engineer of Hayward Baker’s southern region. Garbin earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of South Florida, Tampa.

Plaskett has been appointed senior project manager. He brings nearly two decades of experience to the role. During that time he worked for Hayward Baker, specializing in ground improvement projects throughout the southeastern U.S., the Caribbean and Central America. At Earth Tech, Plaskett will be tasked with providing exceptional ground improvement solutions, as well as assisting with marketing and business development. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of South Florida, Tampa, with an emphasis on geotechnical engineering.

Simpson will also serve as a senior project manager. During his nearly 10 years with Hayward Baker, he managed a variety of vibro compaction, vibro replacement, compaction grout and rigid inclusion projects. He too will specialize in ground improvement projects, marketing and business development. A graduate of Auburn University, he holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in civil engineering.
