Baker Hughes is launching the Vault barrier valve for improved well operational reliability. It provides an ISO-qualified barrier in the wellbore to help protect the lower completion. It also minimizes fluid loss during well construction, which can be very costly.

The high-temperature, high-pressure product can withstand temperatures of up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and pressures of up to 15,000 psi for sealing integrity and well control. The Vault is designed for sand applications and is usable in cased and open-hole wells.

Opening and closing the valve is made easy with the help of a shifting tool and remote. The barrier valve’s large debris sump prevents large debris amounts from accumulating and inhibiting the open/close process.

The Vault barrier valve is Baker Hughes’ latest solution for well efficiency and its capabilities can be increased if paired with the company’s SC-XP frac-pac system.
