Heisey Machine’s floatation subs are custom made with threads to order in lengths to fit the specifications of the driller. Standard duty subs are most commonly used in water well and geothermal applications. They have 70,000 to 80,000 pounds of hold back, up to 45,000 foot pounds of torque at 200 horsepower, 2 to 4 inches of float and a 6-inch body diameter. Deep hole subs are most commonly used for increased hold back applications. They feature up to 120,000 pounds of hold back, up to 45,000 foot pounds of torque at 200 horsepower, 3 inches of float, and a 7-inch body diameter. This unit has longer wear characteristics than the standard duty. Heavy duty Blue Max subs are most commonly used in oil and gas drilling applications. They include 140,000 to 150,000 pounds of hold back, up to 70,000 foot pounds of torque at 300 horsepower, 3 inches of float standard, and an 8-inch body diameter. A floating sub helps prevent cross threading when making up tool joints, absorbs destructive vibrations to the rig, prevents excessive wear and costly repairs and downtime. www.heiseymachine.com
