South Atlantic Jubilee Announces Professional Development Campaign
Campaign Encourages Time Off for Continuing Education
The South Atlantic JUBILEE has announced its kick-off campaign, “Keeping Your Eye On Education” to address a severe problem with lack of a quality workforce within the water well industry. Education requirements have decreased, and therefore, contractors in many states are not bound to obtain as much continuing education or professional development as has been mandated in the past.
“Contractors are mistakenly more focused on just getting what they need to obtain or renew their license, when they should be investing in themselves, their trade, and skills to become a more valuable employee, business owner, and a more valuable asset to the consumer,” says Mike Floyd, president of the South Atlantic JUBILEE.
In turn, the JUBILEE is encouraging companies, business owners and managers to support their contractor employees by offering the time away from work and the financial assistance to attend conventions and open-house offerings such as the JUBILEE, which is held every July; Groundwater Week held in December, and a host of different offerings around the country. The JUBILEE believes that if you support the growth of your employees, you will foster a better working environment, retain more educated employees, and provide a higher quality workforce for the industry as a whole.
The JUBILEE, which will be held July 25-27, 2020 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., has a professional development schedule with two contractor tracks and one business-oriented track. They are also looking to have a special course on licensing exam preparation. As like other conventions, there is also a tradeshow with drill rigs, large equipment, and traditional booths of industry products and services. The JUBILEE member states are Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. Attendees from across the country, but primarily the East coast attend the convention that is celebrating its 65th year.
