National Driller friends and family, it's with a heavy heart that we share the news that our longtime Sales Manager Dean Laramore passed away, Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, after complications from a stroke. He was 60.

Dean, more than anyone, was the face of National Driller. He worked for the magazine for more than 20 years, serving an industry he loved. He was tireless in making sure our clients connected with readers in as many ways as possible.

Most readers and advertisers would know Dean from his wide smile at trade shows like Groundwater Week and the South Atlantic Jubilee, where for many years he ran National Driller's golf outing. Whether he was golfing with clients, bowling at the Texas show or walking a trade show floor, he was always a fixture of industry events.

Dean also cared deeply for his family. While he was a brother, uncle and son, he has a special bond with his daughter, Ashlee. When asked how he was doing, the conversation often veered into his pride at her successes. They shared a love of golf, sports in general and of being outside.

“My dad loved his drilling industry family," Ashlee Laramore said. "He spoke highly of all of you and looked forward to traveling to see all of you. Thank you for loving my dad and being his friend.”

Lawrence Dean Laramore was born June 5, 1960, to the late Julian and Dalilah Laramore. He earned his bachelor's degree in communications and marketing from Florida State University.  He was a passionate fan of the FSU Seminoles and of former coach Bobby Bowden.

A graveside service was scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, in Lipford Cemetery in Marianna, Florida. See the full obit here to share your condolences or to send flowers.

We're also inviting readers and advertisers to share their remembrances with us. Record a snippet of video, share photos or just tell us your Dean story in an email. We'll compile everything into a fuller remembrance for family and the industry he served. Click here to send a video link, photos or your Dean story.
