Pump and water technology manufacturer Grundfos has broken ground on a new Americas Regional Center in Brookshire, Texas, just west of Houston.

“To better serve the market, the new Americas Regional Center will strengthen our proximity between important sales areas and production hubs in North and South America, while fostering creativity for innovative applications and solutions,” says Eric Boutot, Grundfos Americas vice president of regional operations.

In a release, the company says it expects the 45,000-square-foot facility to be completed during the spring of 2021. The new facility, for which the company is seeking LEED Platinum certification, will house sales, operations, engineering, human resources, finance, and other support functions.

The building is designed by PGAL and being built by Harvey Builders. Grundfos says it will be made from locally and responsibly sourced materials. The design includes solar panels on the roof, which will offset at least one-fifth of the building's energy costs, as wells as a chilled water energy storage system to reduce energy consumption and a rainwater harvesting system.

Groundfos says sustainability is one of the company’s major priorities. It has committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (water) and 13 (climate change). This focus, they say, allows the company to help other companies be more sustainable and reach the goals together.

“Houston has been the home of Grundfos colleagues for many years, including myself, having moved here in 2018,” says Dieter Sauer, Grundfos Americas regional managing director. “The city is rapidly growing with a fast economy and large talent pool. With the new Americas Regional Center and our strong market position, we expect to attract the competencies that will keep us in front of the industry.”

Grundfos is a manufacturer of pump solutions and water technology, including pumps, standard and submersible motors, and electronics for monitoring and controlling pumps. Since its inception in 1945, the company has grown from one factory in Denmark to a global corporation comprising more than 80 companies and over 18,800 employees.
