Franklin Electric’s board of directors has elected Jennifer Sherman to be a company director. The role will be effective Jan. 1, 2015.

Sherman, who most recently served as chief operating officer of Federal Signal, has been serving in business leadership roles for at least four years. In 2010, she was appointed to the chief administrative officer position at Federal signal. She oversaw legal, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, human resources, information technology, compliance and government affairs activities. Sherman joined the company in 1994 as corporate counsel.

The appointment of Sherman to the position comes in light of a current director reaching mandatory retirement age within 18 months.

Sherman earned a bachelor of business administration in business finance from the University of Michigan, School of Business Administration and graduated cum laude with a juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
